Shiva Amani is a board certified Registered Dietitian from Ryerson University. She possesses a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and an MBA with seven years of experience as a clinical and community dietitian with good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. She is also a member of Dietitians of Canada and works towards becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
She has provided nutrition care including initial assessments and follow up counselling sessions for clients along the lifespan, focusing on preventative nutrition. She has worked in the areas of pregnancy, lactation, infants/children, youth and women’s health as well as, in seniors’ nutrition care.
She has developed nutrition care plan and education for a wide range of conditions including chronic disease such as pre-diabetes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, cancer, anemia and food allergies.
She also has planned, delivered and evaluated programs, developed educational resources and counselling materials and held several food demonstrations and workshops on various topics including diabetes management, cardiovascular disease, toddler/infant nutrition, youth cooking programs and lunch n’ learn sessions for the health care professionals.
She employs evidence based research, motivational interviewing and adult principals of learning in her practice. Shiva speaks fluently in Farsi and English.
Her passion is to provide the best nutrition care to her clients, and to assist them live and feel healthier and happier.
